A fan was ejected after making a Nazi salute at Real Madrid’s previous Champions League home match
“The eyes of much of the football world will be on Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium when Manchester City visit on Wednesday, one of the standout ties of the Champions League knockouts. After what happened inside and outside the stadium when Madrid beat Benfica there last month to qualify for the last 16, the focus will be even more acute. That game came eight days after Madrid forward Vinicius Junior alleged he was racially abused by Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni in the teams’ previous meeting in Lisbon. Prestianni has denied the allegation. Madrid offered firm institutional support to their player, and for the return game, a banner saying, ‘No to Racism’ was hung in the Bernabeu’s south stand before kick-off. That message was somewhat compromised when a Madrid fan in the same section was caught on camera making what appeared to be a Nazi salute at around the same time. …”
